Technip has won a lump-sum contract to supply ExxonMobil with flowlines, steel catenary risers (SCRs) and flowline end terminations for the operator’s deepwater Julia development in the Gulf of Mexico.
The field in the Walker Ridge area lies in a water depth of approximately 2,100 m (7,200 ft), with the contract scope covering the project management, engineering, fabrication, installation and pre-commissioning of more than 48 km of 10.75- inch outer diameter insulated flowlines, SCRs and flowline end terminations.
No value for the contract was given, although Technip generally describes “substantial” as meaning between €100-€250 million (US $132-$330 million) for a subsea contract.
Technip said its operating centre in Houston will perform the overall project management, with detailed flowline design being completed by Genesis, Technip’s wholly-owned subsidiary. The flowlines and risers will be welded at the Group's spoolbase in Mobile, Alabama.
The offshore installation is expected to be completed in 2015 by Technip’s Deep Blue deepwater pipelay vessel.
Technip last year won a contract to supply equipment for ExxonMobil’s Hadrian South gas field in the ultra-deepwater GoM.
