Petrofac’s new deepwater construction ship being built in China is to be fitted out with integrated controls supplied by Norway’s Kongsberg Maritime.

Kongsberg landed a NOK 230 million contract from China’s Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co. Ltd., which is building the new vessel, to deliver electrical, telecommunications, and integrated control systems for the new Petrofac UJSD 6000 vessel, which is being built to provide J Lay, S lay and derrick pipelay functions, based on a design by Ulstein’s Sea of Solutions in The Netherlands.

Project management, interface management and engineering services will be provided by Kongsberg during the vessel construction programme, in addition to the provision of equipment including generators, switchboards, automation, navigation and DP systems, radio and satellite communications, networking and on board entertainment, plus safety technology and other monitoring systems including an advanced helideck monitoring system.
