Libya's National Oil Corp. (NOC) said on July 5 that production had started at the first well in the Bahr al-Salam Phase 2 project in the country’s largest offshore gas field.
Ten wells will be onstream by October, adding output of 400 MMcf/d of standard gas and bringing total field production to 1,100 MMcf/d, the NOC said in a statement.
Bahr al-Salam, located about 120 km (74 miles) northwest of Tripoli, contains over 260 Bcm of gas. It is operated by Mellitah Oil and Gas, a joint venture between NOC and Italy’s Eni (NYSE: E).
