Reef Subsea has chartered a new subsea construction vessel for a minimum of five years from Olympic Shipping to operate in the worldwide IRM and construction market.

To be able to better serve the market, the vessel is being equipped with both a 250 ton and a 50 ton Active Heave Compensated (AHC) offshore crane, says Reef, in addition to two work class ROVs (Remotely Operated Vehicles). The ROVs will be located within hangars and each will have a dedicated AHC Launch and Recovery system with 5.5mHs capability.

The vessel will have a main deck area of 1,300sq metres, a work moonpool of 7.2 m x 7.2 m and removable bulwarks. She will also be equipped with a shelter deck for the addition of an Observation Class ROV, and have accommodation and facilities for 110 persons.

Flagged in the Bahamas, the Olympic Reef will serve Reef Subsea IRM and subsea construction clients from both the oil and gas, and renewables markets.

The ship will be the five vessel in the Reef Subsea fleet. Reef Subsea is owned 50/50 by GC Rieber Shipping and HitecVision.
