Rising global energy demand is driving oil and gas producers to maximize existing assets and tap the potential of deeper, hotter and more remote reserves. These industry trends continue to steer operators towards unconventional sources, like deepwater environments.
Innovative chemistries are necessary to help meet production targets, changing regulations and increasing demands, while ensuring efficient flow assurance and asset integrity. With over 600 projects worldwide spanning more than 30 years, Dow Oil, Gas & Mining has deep experience, capabilities and expertise that accompany their broad portfolio of innovative subsea and flow assurance solutions.
Subsea insulation for HP/HT applications
Applicators seek resilient and convenient insulation for subsea equipment that can withstand HP/HT. To extend cooldown times and achieve excellent flow assurance in HP/HT environments, Dow Oil, Gas & Mining has integrated existing HYPERLAST Technology with DowSil™ brand silicone solutions to offer XTI-1003 RTV Silicone Rubber Insulation for subsea wet insulation systems. Helping ensure consistent processing and quality control in extreme environments, performance advantages include: thermal stability from artic conditions up to 150 degrees Celsius, good insulating properties for longer cooldown times, increased joint strength, high heat capacity, long-term flexibility and resistance to extreme pressures. Easily mixed and applied using standard cast-in-place equipment and processes, the technology cures to a high-strength silicone rubber.
Global partner in flow assurance
Proven science is more critical than ever to maximize oilfield assets, equipment and hydrocarbons. With more than 250,000 field joints successfully completed, Dow has established a reputation as a global flow assurance technology leader for both onshore and offshore options. From well to platform, our thermal insulation solutions work to help keep oil and gas moving – safely and responsibly. Our advanced product portfolio includes HYPERLAST Glass Syntactic polyurethane materials, HYPERLAST FJ polyurethane systems and HYPERLAST custom coating products. Across flowline insulation, subsea equipment and production, our chemistry is complemented by a network of global experts that provide customers with ongoing technical support.
Enhancing offshore production operations
With more than 45 years of experience in phase separation chemistry, DEMTROL demulsifier bases help produce cost-effective solutions for a variety of crude oil emulsions – a critical step in helping operators meet production targets, adhere to commercial crude oil specifications and yield cleaner produced water for discharge or reinjection. The technology can quickly reduce water-in-oil levels, provide a sharper interface between the two phases for easier separation and effectively remove more water.
Another challenge in oilfield production is the presence of paraffin wax causing flow assurance issues. Our wax control portfolio contains distinct water and oil based ACCENT Wax Inhibitor technologies to help ensure an uninterrupted flow of waxy crude oils. ACCENT Wax Inhibitors offer significant advantages in comparison to conventional solvent based products, including higher active content which minimizes storage space, reduces logistical costs and reduces environmental footprint for oilfield chemical treatment programs. The product also provides excellent freeze protection stability, even at -40 degrees Celsius for artic-type environments.
