Four companies have been shortlisted by the government of Sao Tome and Principe to bid on two deepwater blocks up for grabs in the West African island nation’s exclusive economic zone.

Among the bidders are Portugal’s Galp Energia, according to the state oil company ANP. The country announced plans to open a new licensing round for Blocks 1 and 6 last month. Galp is joined in the round by relative minnows New World Oil and Gas, which also intends to bid for both blocks, while Blue Skies World Group will bid for Block 1 and London Global Energy is chasing Block 6.
