Back in Perth

LNG 18 will mark the first time the LNG X Series has been hosted by a city for a second time. Perth served as the host city for LNG 12 in 1998.

“Perth is a dynamic city and has grown significantly since the LNG 12 conference – the population of Western Australia, the majority of which resides in Perth, has increased by 40 per cent, growing from 1.84 million to 2.59 million,” said Barbara Jinks, executive director of LNG 18.

“Perth is still a hub for the LNG industry in Western Australia and ideal in terms of proximity to Asia (our biggest customers), climate, services and facilities. In 1998, Western Australia (and Australia) had just one operational LNG project —the North West Shelf project, which at that stage had three LNG trains. Since then, major new projects and expansions have seen include production capacity grow from 7.5 million tonnes in 1998 to 48.7 million tonnes per year once all the projects are completed.”

Those projects include:

  • The North West Shelf train four (2004), and train five (2008);
  • The Pluto project (completed 2012);
  • Gorgon project (set to commence production later in 2015);
  • Wheatstone project (scheduled to commence production in 2016);

Prelude floating LNG project (scheduled to commence production in 2017).

“The Premier of Western Australia and the Lord Mayor are very supportive of LNG18 being hosted in Perth and are making that the whole city will welcome participants including delegates, their partners and all others working in or visiting the event” Jinks said.

Exhibition

The LNG 18 Exhibition will showcase more than 250 key players of the LNG industry from over 60 countries.

Networking

Networking opportunities at LNG 18 are unprecedented and not to be missed. “Nowhere else in the world will the same number, mix and collective expertise of people involved in LNG be together in one place over five consecutive days. The sharing of ideas and information on latest developments, along with opportunities to speak with key players of the industry, offers delegates the chance to enhance their understanding of the booming LNG industry and expand their network. The social program will be spectacular, Jinks said.
