India’s Reliance Resources has spudded the MJ-1 exploration well on the deepwater D6 Block in the Krishna Godavari basin off India’s east coast. Block partner Niko Resources said the wildcat was spudded in March and was drilling ahead, targeting a Mesozoic synrift clastic reservoir, similar to the producing MA oil and gas field. Reliance has given the well a pre-drill best case gross prospective resource of 819 Bcf of gas and 56 MMbbl of liquids. Results are expected in April or May.
