Repsol has made two discoveries in the Karabashsky blocks of Russia’s West Siberian Ouriyinskoye Field, the company said in a news release.

The recoverable resources from the Gabi-1 and Gabi-3 wells are estimated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation at 240 MMboe. Sergei Donskoi, minister of the Natural Resources and Environment of Russia, said the find is the biggest made in Russia in the last two years.

The company credited use of modern seismic techniques to detecting the potential resources, allowing it to make the finds in the relatively unexplored area of West Siberia, the release said.
