Rowan has netted a 3-year contract for its Rowan Resolute newbuild drillship to work for Anadarko Petroleum in the US Gulf of Mexico.
The drillship is expected to be delivered to Rowan at the end of the second quarter of 2014, and start operations in the GoM starting in the late third quarter. The unit is one of four ultra-deepwater drillships being constructed for the contractor by Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in Ulsan, South Korea.
The Rowan Resolute will work at an effective dayrate of between US $606,000 and $609,000, including mobilisation revenues. With the award of this contract, two of the company’s four ultra-deep drillships under construction at HHI are now under contract. The remaining two uncontracted units are scheduled to be delivered from the shipyard at the end of October 2014 and March 2015.
