London-based SDX Energy Inc. has made a gas discovery at its ONZ-7 development well in Morocco, the company said Jan. 23. The discovery marks the fourth from five wells drilled in the company’s nine-well Moroccan campaign.
“For this well we used our own high resolution 3-D seismic data, as we have for the other successful wells and as we will for the remainder of the campaign,” SDX Energy CEO Paul Welch said in a statement.
Located on the Sebou permit, the well hit 5 m (16 ft) of net conventional natural gas pay in the Hoot Formation, with reservoir quality exceeding initial expectations, the company said. Porosity in the pay section was 35.3%. The well was drilled to a total depth 1,167 m (3,829 ft).
SDX said the well will be completed, tested and connected to existing infrastructure.
