Technip has clinched another deepwater contract for Shell’s Malikai project offshore Malaysia, this time sealing a deal for the development’s subsea pipelines.
The French contractor confirmed it had been awarded the contract by Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd. (SSPC) for the project, located offshore Sabah in a water depth of 650 m (2,133 ft). (See related story page 8.)
The contract includes transportation, installation and pre-commissioning of an 8-inch 50 km gas pipeline and a 10-inch 55 km liquid pipeline including steel catenary risers. The pipelines will stretch from the Malikai field’s planned Tension Leg Platform location to the Kebabangan field platform.
Technip’s operating centres in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore will execute the contract, which is scheduled to be completed by the second semester of 2015. Offshore installation will be carried out by the company’s G1201 S-Lay vessel.
