Stone Energy’s deepwater Cardona field in Mississippi Canyon Block 29 is currently producing at a gross rate of approximately 10,000 boe/d via its first two wells, which began flowing late in the fourth quarter of last year to its 100%-owned Pompano platform in Viosca Knoll Block 989. The operator plans to spud a third development well, Cardona-6, in the second quarter of this year using the Ensco 8503 rig. Drilling and completion operations are expected to take four months. Stone holds a 65% working interest in the Cardona project as operator.
