Technip’s Newbuild DSV Ready For Trials
Technip’s DP3-class dive support vessel (DSV) Deep Explorer is ready for sea trials offshore Norway, the company said.
The DSV’s 24-man twin bell saturated dive system, designed and commissioned by JFD, is rated to 350 m (1,148 ft). The vessel is purpose-designed and certified for subsea projects in the North Sea and Canadian markets.
Deep Explorer is “the most modern and versatile DSV in the world, thanks to its latest technology diving control system, 400-tonne box boom crane, large deck area, working moonpool and work class ROVs,” Technip said.
It is capable of operating in extreme weather conditions, the company said, and is expected to begin work sometime in 2017.
The vessel hull was built by Vard Tulcea shipyard in Romania and towed to Vard Langsten in Norway for equipment outfitting and commissioning.
