Teekay Offshore has advanced its offshore hold through the acquisition of Dutch firm ALP Maritime Services, which provides long-haul towage and offshore installation services worldwide, via third party owned vessels.
As part of the transaction Teekay and ALP together have ordered four newbuild towing and anchor handling vessels as part of the transaction, for a fully built cost of US $260 million, including the cost of acquiring ALP. These new units, based on an SX-157 Ulstein Design, will be equipped with dynamic positioning capability for ultra-long distance towage, offshore installation and decommissioning of FPSOs, FLNG units and rigs.
Teekay says under the partnership with ALP it will meet initial payments for the newbuilds with cash, and it will arrange long-term debt financing for the new ships before their delivery in 2016.
