Data acquisition has commenced on a 3-D seismic survey offshore southern Africa’s Namibia, where operator Tullow is aiming to drill with partner PanContinental.
Acquisition of the 3,000 sq km survey on EL 0037 is being carried out by the Norwegian-owned seismic vessel Polarcus Asima. Once complete, the ship will then embark on a second acquisition program to acquire another 1,000 km of 2-D data, and the total programme is expected take up to 120 days, Pancontinental has indicated.
The EL 0037 licence covers a total of 17,295 sq km in the Walvis Basin offshore northern Namibia, with water depths of up to 1,500 m (4,920 ft).
