A contract to supply a complete Pusnes wire mooring system for a cylindrical-shaped accommodation unit being built at Cosco Nantong Shipyard in China for Norway’s Logitel Offshore has been awarded to Aker Solutions.
The equipment includes three triple wire winches, three control cabins, nine wire fairleads, three hydraulic power units and the accompanying control system. The contract is worth about NOK 40 million (US $6.7 million), said Aker.
The wire mooring systems will be commissioned at Cosco’s yard, with deliveries to take place in May and October 2014. The contract also includes an option for a second unit. The accommodation unit, the hull of which was formerly owned by fellow Norwegian company Sevan Marine, will be operated by Logitel.
The equipment has been designed according to the latest standards set by classification society DNV, added Aker. The wire size and length for the accommodation unit is 90 mm x 450 metres (1,476 ft).
