BP has selected Wood Group Kenny for a US $57.6 million contract to supply engineering and project management for a second phase development of the Shah Deniz field in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea.
Wood Group Kenny will provide support for the subsea side of the project as part of the contractor’s ongoing global agreement with BP, which covers engineering and project management in the North Sea, Angola and in the US Gulf.
Wood Group has been working with the UK major on Shah Deniz since 2008 providing engineering support through appraisal, concept selection and definition phases of the project, which extends out into water depths of around 500 m (1,640 ft). Some of the subsea tiebacks from the deepwater section of the field are planned as part of the development’s second phase.
Shah Deniz phase two will add another 16 Bcm of gas production per year, via two new bridge-linked platforms and 26 new wells. Up to 500 km (312 miles) of subsea pipelines are involved in the second phase development, which also features upgrades to the onshore Sangacahal gas terminal including new processing and compression facilities.
