Shell International E&P BV and Heriot-Watt University are jointly establishing the new Shell Centre for Exploration Geoscience at the university’s Edinburgh, Scotland, campus. Headed by Professor John Underhill, the center will be based within the university’s Institute of Petroleum Engineering and will establish a seismic interpretation and exploration geoscience research group.
Clariant expanded its operations in Latin America by opening a new R&D laboratory for catalysts for chemicals and oil and gas industries in Suzano, Brazil.
GE Oil & Gas will establish its new global headquarters in London, with Florence, Italy, remaining the global headquarters for GE Oil & Gas Turbo-machinery Products & Services. The new headquarters will be operational beginning in January 2014.
Qatar Petroleum and Texas A&M University at Qatar opened the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center-Qatar in Doha, Qatar, as an extension of the base center located in College Station, Texas. The extension will offer the same academic programs and activities as the base center, with a mission of promoting safety in the global oil and gas industry.
