Alfa Laval has started operations at the new test and training center in Aalborg, Denmark. Built on the site of the former Aalborg shipyard, the center is the largest ship simulation facility in the marine industry, with a 250-sq-m (2,691-sq-ft) testing area. The testing area is built around a 2-MW marine engine with commercial and prototype equipment from all of the company's marine product groups. The test system is connected to a dedicated control room and a training complex.

Reamco opened a new business development office in Aberdeen, Scotland, according to a company press release. The office will be responsible for business development in the North Sea, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Southwest Research Institute added a cell for testing valves and other pressure-containing and pressure-controlling products to its flow-component testing facilities. The cell is capable of evaluating products up to 30,000 psi with gas hydraulic pressure, according to a company press release. Other capabilities include cryogenic testing to -196?C (-320?F), elevated temperature testing up to 399?C (750?F), fugitive emissions testing, and thermal cycling.

Yokogawa Corp. of America broke ground on its new distribution center in Newnan, Ga. The 5,574-sq-m (60,000-sq-ft) expansion of its facility there will employ 215 new workers.
