Technip Energies has been awarded an engineering, procurement and services contract by Galp Energia to develop an advanced biofuels and green hydrogen unit for its Sines refinery in Portugal, according to an Oct. 5 release.
The advanced biofuels unit will have a 270 kilo tonnes per annum (ktpa) capacity and produce renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel, reducing the Sines refinery’s carbon footprint for itself and its products. The green hydrogen unit will produce 18 ktpa of renewable hydrogen and reduce GHG emissions. Both units have an approximate investment of $680 million.
Technip Energies will work in consortium with Technoedif Engenharia, an engineering firm in Portugal, to complete the project.
