Electricity provider Hydro-Québec said Jan. 26 it has accepted eight bids for wind projects totaling of 1.55 gigawatts from five companies in its call for tenders.
Excluding transportation and balancing, the average supply cost forecast for the successful bids is 7.8 cents per kilowatt hour in 2023 Canadian dollars, the company said. Hydro-Québec issued the call for tenders in March 2023.
Successful bidders and the projects are:
- Boralex Inc., 265.2-megawatt (MW) Arthabaska Wind Power project;
- Pattern Renewable Holdings, 150-MW Broughton wind farm;
- Kruger Energy, 147-MW Les Jardins wind farm;
- Innergex Renewable Energy, 300-MW Manicouagan wind farm;
- Boralex Inc., 100-MW Monnoir Wind;
- Innergex Renewable Energy, 100-MW MRC Lotbinière;
- Invenergy Canada, 291.4-MW Pohénégamoo-Picard-Saint-Antonin-Wolastokuk 2; and
- Kruger Energy, 196-MW Saint-Paul-de-Montminy.
Electricity deliveries for the projects ranged from Dec. 1, 2027 to Dec. 1, 2029.
Hydro-Québec said it will conclude electricity purchase contracts with the developers in the coming weeks and submit the contracts to energy management for approval. The developers must obtain all required permits and authorizations before beginning construction.
