MicroSeismic Inc. appointed Dr. Alasdair Brown on May 15 to serve as vice president of engineering for the Houston-based oilfield service provider.
Brown is a strategic leader with more than 30 years of experience across the energy industry, working for both operators and service companies, the MicroSeismic release said.
The addition of Brown to the MicroSeismic team will help the company build upon its reputation in the engineering services world, said Peter Duncan, president and CEO, MicroSeismic.
“Alasdair brings a wealth of industry knowledge, executive management experience and expertise in building innovative, customer-focused engineering, R&D and information technology businesses,” Duncan said in a statement.

Brown most recently served as vice president of ecosystems and alliances with Bluware, a seismic cloud solution software company. Prior to Bluware, he was with Baker Hughes Inc. where he held the title of vice president of business development for enterprise technology.
During his career, Brown has also held escalating roles with Halliburton Co., Edinburgh Petroleum Services Ltd., Petrocorp Inc., Intera ECL Petroleum Technologies and Shell International.
“What attracted me the most to MicroSeismic is the company is focused on helping customers with their biggest concern, making a return on their investment,” Brown said in a statement.
At MicroSeismic, Brown will lead all engineering and program management activities, including the technical quality and innovation of engineering services. Additionally, he will be responsible for communicating the nature of these services to the oil and gas community.
“I look forward to this new role with MicroSeismic tremendously,” Brown said. “This is an opportunity to provide customers with a top-level completions evaluation solution with proven technology and I can’t wait to put my personal knowledge to use improving upon it.”
MicroSeismic has monitored and analyzed over 35,000 frac stages across the U.S. and internationally, according to the company’s website. The company operates in 18 countries and holds over 35 patents.
