A new FPSO for Norway is heading for its field location after Dutch marine contractor Fairmount Marine delivered the new production unit to BG Group’s Knarr field.

Fairmount’s tugs supplied the horsepower to tow the Petrojarl Knarr production unit to Haugesund where the unit is due to complete testing before deployment on the field. Vessel owner Teekay Shipping took delivery of the unit in late June after the floater was completed by Samsung Heavy Industries in Geoje, South Korea. The vessel is committed to a 10-year charter with BG on the field, starting in the fourth quarter of this year.

Fairmount tugs undertook the tow of the 135,000 ton unit from Geoje via Singapore, Mauritius and Las Palmas in the Canary Islands before a final leg via the west of Ireland, Fairisle, south of the Shetland Islands and the North Sea.
