Distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) company OptaSense partnered with Weatherford International Plc to deliver integrated optical sensing solutions to optimize wells, OptaSense said April 28.
Weatherford’s OmniWell in-well optical production and reservoir monitoring systems will combine with OptaSense’s DAS technology to improve reservoir management and EUR. The DAS technologies include DAS-VSP vertical seismic profiling, DAS-HFP hydraulic fracture monitoring and DAS-Flow production flow monitoring.
Ireland-based Weatherford’s sensing technology includes pressure and temperature gauges, distributed temperature sensing, array temperature sensing, flow measurement and seismic sensors.
Together, these technologies provide a more complete, integrated, well surveillance solution. Multipoint and distributed VSP acquisition, production flow monitoring, hydraulic fracture monitoring and enhanced microseismic imaging will be provided.
The companies are installing and monitoring optical sense solutions in more than 1,000 wells, the U.K.-based OptaSense said.
Both companies will continue to offer their respective products and services independently, the company added.
