ELA Container Offshore, supplier of offshore living accommodations in container form for sale and hire, was founded in 2014 in response to the growing demand for offshore accommodations. The company has since gained experience through completion of a wide variety of projects in the offshore wind, offshore oil and gas, and dredging industries. Industry discussions that took place during the past years and months often centered on cost savings, product improvements and the political environment within these industries. But the topic of offshore living accommodations has not been prominent in past and current discussions. During the past years, ELA Container Offshore has noticed there is a lack of familiarity among people working in the offshore industry about the benefits and advantages that offshore accommodation containers can offer.

Some large installation vessels already have integrated the accommodation space needed for the crew in their vessel design. Nevertheless, platforms and vessels, such as jackup vessels and barges, are constantly required to adjust their deck layout and accommodation facilities for each project, depending on the actual number of people needed. This is where offshore accommodation containers are an efficient, cost-effective and flexible solution to create temporary accommodations and work space.

Offshore accommodation containers give flexibility to a project and the possibility to adapt living space to the number of people needed on a project. ELA Container Offshore decided to offer flexible 6-m (20-ft) units that can quickly and easily be refitted into any desired shape and function. These units can be added, removed or switched and quickly connected into an already existing accommodation complex. If an unexpectedly larger or smaller crew needs to be accommodated during the rental period, containers can easily be removed or added.

Another reason for deploying offshore accommodation containers is that these containers are designed to accommodate any number of people as efficiently as possible by taking up as little deck space as possible. Additionally, to use the space available as efficiently as possible, containers provided by ELA Container Offshore can be stacked up to four high and connected with gangway and stairway containers to make containers easily accessible.

ELA Container Offshore highly values employee well-being and states the importance of looking at the crew point of view when deciding upon offshore accommodations. Crew members require a high quality of life while working offshore, which can be established by a high standard of accommodation, good food and the option of leisure activities. Hence the decision for ELA Offshore to offer many possibilities to ensure this quality of life. And in 2016 the company made the decision to design all accommodation containers with a more modern wood design, providing more comfort and a homey feeling. Additionally, ELA Offshore offers multipurpose rooms, which can be equipped to match a wide variety of leisure activities including a recreation room and gym.

A final and very important argument for the operator to deploy offshore accommodation units is their cost effectiveness, which is an important factor in every project. ELA Container Offshore places high value on designing projects that are as cost efficient as possible. For both short- and long-term projects, the company offers the possibility to rent or buy the exact number of containers needed for the duration of the project.

If an unexpectedly smaller crew needs to be accommodated during the rental period, containers can easily be removed, which will result in a smaller rental rate. ELA Offshore accommodation containers can accommodate up to four people per container, which results into a lower rental rate, due to a smaller amount of containers required.

ELA Container Offshore will be exhibiting at booth 11905 at OTC, where the possibility of ELA Offshore accommodation containers can be seen at the built accommodation complex.
