Operator Camac Energy has tapped heavy subsea construction specialist Ceona for field expansion work at the deepwater Oyo oil field offshore Nigeria.
Ceona won a contract as part of the Oyo Phase One Expansion Project, for which it will be deploying the Normand Pacific to install and recover umbilicals and flexible pipelines. The work is scheduled to commence in July, with the vessel working in a water depth of 500 m (1,640 ft).
A local partner, Marine Platforms Ltd., also will be working on the project, located in Blocks 120 and 121 about 70 km (43 miles) offshore.
Project management will be provided by Ceona, after taking the Normand Pacific on a one-year charter starting in April from Solstad Offshore.
Earlier in May, Northern Offshore’s Energy Searcher drillship arrived at the Oyo field on an initial one-year contract to drill development wells and one or more exploration wells in OMLs 120 and 121.
Previously, Ceona used the Normand Pacific for a first contract on the Clipper contingency umbilical installation project on behalf of Bennu Oil and Gas in the US Gulf.
The vessel has been equipped with a 75 tonne vertical lay system, a reel drive system for 400 tonne reels, and two work-class ROVs.
