Drilling rig manufacturer Bentec received three major multimillion-dollar contracts, the company said May 25.

A contract for three 320-tonne cluster slider rigs was awarded. These rigs will be made for for Russian joint stock company Samotlorneftepromkhim.

Bentec’s subsidiary in Tymen, Russia, will manufacture them, and their commissioning is scheduled to end later this year.

Bentec reduced the weight and cabling of the rigs by 150 tonnes and 6,500 m, respectively, the company said. Less time for assembly, disassembly and rig moves are needed for these modular and compact land rigs. Bentec launched its first new-generation Arctic cluster slider rig in 2014.

Bentec received a contract to build a drilling rig for Nobel Oil Ltd.’s work in the Caspian Sea offshore Azerbaijan. The offshore drilling package will include the recently launched 750-tonne top drive and new 3000-horsepower drawworks. The state-of-the-art rig will be installed on an existing platform in early 2016.

In 2013, Bentec sold its first 500-tonne top drive to a Caspian Sea operator.

A Russian customer ordered 13 new-generation TD-350-XT top drive systems--the second-largest top drive order for Bentec.

The top drives will be made at the company’s Bad Bentheim, Germany, headquarters. Their delivery is scheduled between May and October. Bentec has sold 63 top drives in Russia to date.
