Geoscience group Benthic has claimed a new record diving depth for its portable remotely operated drill system working offshore Tanzania in a depth of 2,762 m (9,059 ft) where a unit operated for 55 hours continuously, performing CPT and piston coring. Benthic says this is the deepest deployment of a seabed geotechnical drill to date.
