David B. Cook has been named to succeed Søren Gath Hansen as group executive vice president and CEO for E&P of DONG Energy, the company said in a news release.
Cook has served as executive officer and head of oil and gas at the Abu Dhabi National Energy Co., TAQA.
Hansen will continue in DONG Energy as head of the group's quality, health, safety and environment activities (QHSE), the release said.
Prior to TAQA Cook worked for BP across E&P operational, exploration and commercial functions. Cook is a geologist and geophysicist by education and holds a Ph.D. in geological sciences from Michigan State University, the release said. He takes over the CEO role effective Dec. 15, 2014.
