ANP, the Brazilian energy regulator, plans to limit the number of blocks in any given area in its eighth licensing round in an attempt to encourage competition and to make sure one company doesn’t monopolize any production area, according to Business News Americas. The organization will offer 384 blocks in 14 areas for bids in the Nov. 28 and 29 licensing round. Under the plan, one company cannot make offers for more than three blocks in most subareas in the seven basins. In one case, a company can make only one bid, and in five areas a single company can bid on up to four blocks.
