The momentum for CGGVeritas’ V1 high-performance single-vibrator acquisition solution continues to build with further successful pilot surveys for clients in
Lionel Lhommet, executive vice president, Land Acquisition, said, "Geophysically and operationally V1 represents a significant step forward in the evolution of the vibroseis technique. It provides our clients with a practical and elegant solution for high-density wide-azimuth vibroseis acquisition. Our recent field trials proved that V1 excels in this arena and delivers the high-resolution wide-azimuth data required for improved imaging and reservoir characterization.”
V1 extends the slip-sweep technique to single vibrators and optimizes it for high-density acquisition. It is the result of extensive research and development by CGGVeritas and includes proprietary technology for flexible real-time fleet management, source control and harmonic noise attenuation. The result is a uniquely robust and efficient operation which can meet the industry’s needs for high-density wide-azimuth acquisition.
Highlighting the key benefits of V1, Lionel Lhommet continued: “The dense point-source acquisition provides improved wavefield sampling, which is critical for scattered noise attenuation. It removes source array effects that attenuate the signal, and it reduces the acquisition footprint. There are also important benefits for health, safety and the environment, including a reduction in the source footprint and in the peak energy generated at each shot point. Finally, we have seen from the field trials that acquiring over 600 VP/hr is possible with V1. This unparalleled source productivity makes high-density wide-azimuth acquisition a viable and attractive solution for our clients.”
