The Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen’s Univation Ltd. commercial branch has started a program to bring more engineers into the subsea oil and gas industry. “The subsea sector urgently needs 1,000 new engineers with those numbers rising to 3,000 in the next 5 years to cope with the international demand for subsea services and products,” said David Pridden, chief executive officer of Subsea UK. With that in mind, the university started for educational modules design to familiarize people with the subsea oil and gas industry and train them for work. The courses are suitable for engineers and non-technical people and include more than 60 hours of self-directed learning through the university’s Virtual Campus.
