Barco recently implemented the world's latest 3-D visualization technology at RSK [UK] Limited. The solution, consisting of Barco's new Galaxy NH-12 projection system, allows RSK business and technical teams to view geophysical data, reservoir models and well bore plans at the same time to better quantify and manage risk of exploration and production assets.

RSK is an independent, multi-disciplinary upstream consultancy company for the oil and gas industry. It specializes in acquisitions and divestitures as well as the management of exploration and production investments made by financial institutions and high net-worth entities. RSK identifies opportunities for financial and industry investors and manages those opportunities to successfully maximize returns. Given the shortage of high-quality oil and gas reserves and technical expertise, RSK realized it needed advanced visualization technology to maximize asset potential, reduce risk and improve the productivity of its professionals.

“RSK wanted to visualize all facets of geo-data on a large intuitive display so that our technical teams could collaborate, analyze and make better informed decisions more efficiently,” said Wayne Kelley, managing director at RSK. “Barco's Galaxy NH-12 visual system will enable us to deliver superior solutions in less time and at a competitive value as well as reduce risk.”

RSK is the first petroleum consultancy in the US to implement Barco's new Galaxy NH-12 projection system in its corporate theater. Controlled with mouse and keyboard, this bright and immersive solution projects local and networked sources simultaneously in windows that can be easily resized, moved or overlapped. This allows RSK teams to display multiple geologic modeling, reservoir modeling and well development modeling tools at once on the theater's large glass screen. The Galaxy NH-12 can display both stereo 3-D and non-stereo data at 1080p HD resolution.

The new Barco Galaxy NH-12 system will also foster real-time collaboration among RSK geoscientists and engineers. The integrated team can together review the geology, reservoir properties, well mechanics and economics to devise development strategies that yield the highest potential return and chance of success.

Barco visualization technology will play a key role in RSK's operation as it moves forward with oil and gas exploration and production projects.
