A new Compact Production Sampler, by using a through-wired design, allows a fullbore flowmeter be run at the bottom of a production logging string at the same time
as bottomhole samplers.
The system eliminates the need for separate wireline runs for logging and for fluid sample

The tool is from 6.5 to 8.5 ft (2 to 2.5 m) long and can be integrated into any Schlumberger production logging operation. It can run in any position in the downhole logging assembly.
While going through field trials last year, the sampler passed a battery of tests, including collecting water samples for water injector tracer or resistivity analysis, gathering oil samples for pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) analysis and investigating plugs in the well bore.
The system’s ability to run the production log before taking the fluid samples allows selective fluid sampling at specific depths and the immediate investigation of anomalies in the fluid as logs identify them.
An operator can rely on tradition time delay or use the surface actuation on slickline using an electronic firing-head system. On some operations, such as a production logging tool operation on a single onshore well where the sample transfer and analysis are needed on site, the service company can run the sampler without the requirement for an on-site sampling specialist.
The sampler collects a 100 cc conventional bottomhole sample, and the chamber can be shipped directly to a laboratory for analysis. The chamber also has an integral agitation mechanism for use if the fluids require recombining at reservoir temperature and pressure before PVT analysis.
