Keppel FELS Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore-based Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd, has delivered an offshore drilling rig to PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services Joint Stock Co (PV Drilling).

Built well within budget and delivered 2 months in advance of the delivery target, the KFELS B-class vessel is Vietnam's first wholly-owned rig - constructed according to Keppel's proprietary design. The US $110-million jackup rig is capable of working in 350 ft (107 m) of water and drilling to 30,000 ft (9,150 m). It can house a crew of 110 people.

"Singapore is happy to participate in and contribute to the growth of Vietnam," said Singapore Trade Minister Lim Hng Kiang. "Vietnam is fast becoming a key regional oil and gas exporter with over 600 million barrels of proven oil reserves."
