This third edition includes numerous updates such as:
· A comprehensive revision of basin outlines with a particular enhancement of the basin limits in the Western U.S. Basin names are exported directly from IHS International Exploration & Production (E&P) database.
· Detailed cultural layers taken from IHS international cartographic databases.
· Precise topographic/bathymetric background provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
· Extensive list of basin names on the map for easier reference.
· Outlines and labels of major oceanic-tectonic features such as transform faults, mid-oceanic ridges and subduction zones.
"Since we first issued the map in 1986, exploration and production customers and university educators around the world have relied on the map as a valuable reference and teaching tool. A second edition was published in 2000, and many customers have recently requested an update," said Didier Arbouille, Basin data manager of the International Energy segment of IHS.
