The founder and chairman of Lafayette, La.-based Stone Energy Corp., James H. Stone, passed away on Jan. 14, 2008. He was 82 years old. Stone started his first oil and gas company more than 55 years ago and brought Stone Energy Corp. public in 1993. Under his leadership, the company grew to a market capitalization of more than US $1.2 billion.
Mark T. Thies, executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) Black Hills Corp., has resigned from the company. David R. Emery, chairman, president and chief executive officer of the company, has assumed his duties while the company searches for a new CFO.
Aker Kværner has appointed Leif Borge as its new chief financial officer.
The King in Council has confirmed that acting director Bente Nyland, a geologist, has been appointed director general of the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
Lonnie Brock has been appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer of Teton Energy Corp. Mr. Brock will also be responsible for all treasury and administrative functions and investor relations coordination.
Linn Energy LLC has appointed Mark E. Ellis president and chief operating officer. He will succeed Michael C. Linn who will continue to hold the positions of chairman and chief executive officer.
Jean-Pierre Fontanille has been appointed to the global management team of Superior Offshore International as senior vice president, Middle and Far East/Africa based in the company’s recently opened office in Dubai, UAE.
