Washington Group International announced today that it has established a full-service engineering office in Doha, Qatar, to expand its service to clients in the growing Middle East oil, gas, and chemicals market.

Washington Group has maintained a project office in Doha since February as a team has been at work on the engineering, procurement and construction of one of the world's largest sulfur-handling facilities — a project serving the gas-processing industry.

"This region is a very active marketplace, and the expansion of our services there is a natural progression in Washington Group's increased involvement in the oil, gas and chemicals arena," said Stephen G. Hanks, president and chief executive officer of Washington Group International. "It will allow us to provide greater client focus, as well as serve as a regional gateway to process-industry engineering resources in Washington
Group's US and Romania offices."

All project management and engineering disciplines will be represented in the office.
Other work at Washington Group's Doha office includes providing engineering, procurement and construction services for a pipeline project, which, like the sulfur-handling facility, is in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. Washington Group has been serving clients in the Middle East for more than 50 years.
