GeoPark Ltd. began its drilling program in Colombia’s Llanos 34 Block, which it operates with a 45% working interest, the company said June 14. The Jacana 3 appraisal well was spudded, and the Jacana 4 well will be drilled.
The Jacana Field, discovered in September 2015, currently produces about 5,700 barrels per day (bbl/d) of oil from two wells. The field is southwest of, and on-trend with, the large Tigana oil field.
In Colombia, GeoPark plans to drill about six wells, including one or two exploration wells, in the Llanos 34 Block during 2016.
