Seismic contractor Dolphin Geophysical has been told by a Norwegian government agency that a recently announced seismic contract in the Kara Sea region won’t be subject to trade restrictions directed against Russia.

Earlier this month the Norwegian seismic contractor said it had secured a contract to perform a high-end 16-streamer 3-D survey in the Kara Sea for an undisclosed client. The three-month survey is due to commence in second-quarter 2015 using an ice-class vessel from its fleet.

The export control division of the Norwegian Foreign Trade Department has told Dolphin that it will not be subject to current trade restrictions imposed against Russia.

In July, Norway's Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende said his country would align with European Union restrictions on cooperation and economic exchanges with Russia which were imposed after Russian actions in Crimea and Ukraine.
