Bell Geospace has been awarded a contract to acquire about 4,247 sq miles of data onshore Mongolia by Petro Matad Ltd., according to a news release.
The program marks the first time that the full tensor gradiometer technique will be applied to oil and gas exploration in the country, Bell Geospace said. The survey will begin in September 2015 and cover blocks IV and V in central Mongolia, an area of mountainous desert and steppe.
“The program is designed to provide high-resolution gravity coverage, capable of resolving prospect scale structural features, to aid in correlation between 2-D seismic profiles and extrapolate structural networks into frontier areas to optimize future exploration work,” Petro Matad said in a company statement.
