Petrobras has proved up a new gas and light oil discovery in deepwater in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin’s Moita Bonita area offshore Brazil.
Located 82 km (51 miles) offshore, Petrobras said its Moita Bonita 3 well, 3-BRSA-1244-SES / 3-SES-182, encountered a 40 m (131 ft) thick reservoir with good permeability and porosity, and after a formation test, also confirmed 41° API oil and good reservoir productivity in the BM-SEAL-10 concession area, which is operated by Petrobras 100%.
The new well was drilled in a water depth of 2,790 m (9,151 ft). The Moita Bonita accumulation is part of the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin deepwater development program, Petrobras said in a news release.
