Polarcus Adira is in transit from Las Palmas to the U.S. Gulf of Mexico (GoM) to commence a six-month charter for TGS.

The purpose-built 3-D seismic vessel is equipped with specialized, advanced maritime technology to minimize the environmental footprint of the operation, Polarcus Ltd. said in a press release. The vessel was awarded the highest achievable Triple E environmental and energy efficiency rating by DNV-GL.

The survey for TGS will cover an area of 11,500 sq km (4,440 sq miles) and will involve the technologically-advanced seismic vessel towing a large receiver spread, comprising multiple solid streamers each 10 km (6 miles) in length, and a specialized source array designed to focus the acoustic energy in a vertical direction, according to the release. The program will image both the regional stratigraphy and deep-basin structures in the deepwater central GoM.

This project forms part of the company’s existing backlog that has been previously announced through the Oslo Stock Exchange.
