Strainstall will provide the chain tension monitoring system (CTMS) for Bluewater Energy Services’ FPSO vessels in the deepwater Kaombo Oil Field offshore Angola, the company said June 1.
Strainstall will monitor the vessels' turret mooring systems. The CTMS will increase operational efficiency and reduce costs using custom-made, long-lasting sensors. CTMS alerts users in real time if anchor loads exceed weight limits.
There have been recent mooring chain failures on FPSOs, Strainstall said.
Strainstall, part of U.K.-based James Fisher & Sons Plc, has CTMS operations worldwide, including Moho Nord Field offshore West Africa.
