TransAtlantic Petroleum’s board of directors has approved Harold “Lee” Muncy as vice president of geosciences. In addition, the board has accepted the resignation of Jeffrey S. Mecom, vice president, legal and corporate secretary and expects to appoint Matthew W. McCann as general counsel and corporate secretary on or before Sept. 8, 2014, according to a news release.
Mecom plans to remain at the company in an advisory capacity through Sept. 8, 2014.
Muncy served as vice president, exploration, for the Bass Companies, a group of Fort Worth, Texas-based independent oil and natural gas E&P companies, where he worked from 2000 to 2012, the release said. He brings more than 35 years of geological experience in the oil and natural gas industry, where he has focused on exploration, exploitation and worldwide transactions. He began his career as a geologist with Mobil Oil Corp. and served as exploration manager for Fina Oil & Chemical Co. and vice president of exploration and land for TransTexas Gas Corp. Muncy earned a B.S. and an M.S. in geology and mineralogy from The Ohio State University.
McCann has served as counsel for Riata Corporate Group and business development specialist for Longfellow Energy, which are both owned by TransAtlantic CEO N. Malone Mitchell and his family, since 2011 and from 2007 to 2009. From 2009 to 2011, McCann served as CEO of TransAtlantic. Prior to joining Riata and Longfellow, he served as senior vice president, legal and corporate secretary for SandRidge Energy, the release said. McCann began his legal career at Sprouse Shrader Smith in Amarillo, Texas. He earned a B.S. in business administration from the University of Vermont and a J.D. from The University of Oklahoma College of Law.
