The government of Uganda will announce the country’s first open competitive licensing round for petroleum exploration during the 12th Africa Independents Forum 2015 in London, a press release said May 7.

This licensing round will cover six blocks in the Albertine Graben prospective sedimentary basin.

Irene Muloni, minister of energy and mineral development, said less than 10% of Albertine Graben is currently licensed.

The forum will take place at London’s Waldorf Hilton Hotel from May 26 and 27. It is hosted by ITE Group Plc and Global Pacific & Partners.

The forum will feature speakers including Ian Cloke, vice president of exploration for Tullow Oil and Duncan Clarke, the president of African Institute of Petroleum in London.
